Skull and Bones Doom Build 2.0 META Guide for Large Ships
Ten impetus stacks, one auxiliary shot, and eight seconds of critical hits that can melt a World Tier 4 boss. That is the core of Doom Build 2.0, the updated version of my large ship build for Skull and Bones.
Doom Build 2.0 is the large ship meta for Year 3, Season 2, built around the galleon (the first large DPS ship, with 40 gunports) and tweakable for the frigate, corvette and junk. I spent days testing it for the new season. It is made to farm World Tier 4 bosses quickly, handle seasonal events, and stay tanky, inspired by God Emperor Doom.
New to the Doom Build? The original Doom Build guide (Year 3, Season 1) explains the core concepts behind this setup.

What Changed from the Original Doom Build
| Doom Build (Year 3, Season 1) | Doom Build 2.0 (Year 3, Season 2) | |
|---|---|---|
| Main idea | Solo sustain with rapid-fire life steal | Impetus stacks into an 8-second critical barrage |
| Main weapon | Rotmouth Culverin or Hullcarver Culverin | Any top-tier culverin, Urban's Great Gun is my top pick |
| Healing weapon | Hellepoort on the bow | Hellepoort or Soulsnatcher as your secondary |
| Armor | Royal Custodian | Immortal Vessel or Royal Custodian, swapped per boss |
| Furniture | Solo reload and status damage focus | Adds Rampant Carriage Hold to boost nearby allies |
Weapon Loadout and Mods (00:56)
The build relies on broadside culverins, so prioritize ascending the weapons you use the most and choose any top-tier culverin as your main. The mods turn it into a high fire rate machine gun with stacking secondary damage. The video has a chart with the ascension mod combinations.
- Main weapon: Urban's Great Gun is my top pick. If you dislike delayed bursts, grab another culverin.
- Damage type: explosive or flooding builds work too, but toxic and electric pair best for me. Poison drains enemy stamina and breaks bracing, while Stormstruck adds chain lightning area damage and burst vulnerability.
- Secondary: Hellepoort or Soulsnatcher, my only recommendations because of their mending abilities. They provide the health gains you need to survive World Tier 4 boss debuffs like Abyssal Stigma.
- Bow and stern: equip what fits your playstyle and ascend them to mythic or adept to raise your overall ship level. Long guns and ballistas break sails from range, while demi-cannons are great for spamming vulnerabilities and crits. Save your upgrade resources for your main weapons and armor.
- Auxiliary: Little Grace 3 for team play. Want more DPS? Swap to a rocket or mortar like Le Fléau or Eye of Heaven.
Best ascension mods for your main weapon
Whichever culverin you pick, the mod pattern is nearly the same: Noxious in the basic slot (Rapid Reload on The Rotmouth), Soul Mending in both the advanced and special slots, and Lightning Strike as the mythic mod. Heaven's Mandate is the exception and ends with Voltaic Charge.
| Main weapon (starboard) | Basic mod | Advanced mod | Special mod | Mythic mod |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Urban's Great Gun | Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Heaven's Mandate | Noxious | Firepower | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Voltaic Charge |
| Scorch Song | Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Carronade | Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Hellepoort | Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Hullcarver | Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| The Rotmouth | Rapid Reload | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Naga's Call | Noxious/Adept Noxious | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
Secondary damage effects cheat sheet
Use this to match your damage type to the status effect you want to trigger.
| Secondary damage | Primary effect | Status effect | Status effect impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Toxic | Saps enemy crew stamina continuously | Poisoned | Deals continuous damage over time, lowers max brace strength, and degrades bracing |
| Electric | Delivers high elemental burst damage | Stormstruck | Disrupts offensive output and chain-lightning arcs to nearby enemies (within 150m) |
| Fire | Inflicts elemental fire damage | Ablaze | Deals high damage over time |
| Flooding | Inflicts water damage that degrades vessel integrity | Flooded | Deals medium damage over time, inflicts Severe Damage and reduces movement speed |
| Explosive | Delivers high area-of-effect radius damage | Shell-Shocked | Briefly disables the target vessel's ability to fire weapons |
| Piercing | Bypasses hull defenses and targets weak points | Punctured | Triggers an immediate bonus burst of Severe Damage directly to the hull |
| Tearing | Specifically targets enemy sail durability | Torn Sails | Completely immobilizes the enemy ship for a short duration |
Bow and stern weapons and mods
Pick the row that fits your playstyle, and save your upgrade resources for your main weapons and armor.
| Bow / stern weapon | Basic mod | Advanced mod | Special mod | Mythic mod |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Faule Ilse | Rapid Reload | Any | Soul Mending | Soul Mending | Lightning Strike |
| Atma's Toll | Rapid Reload | Raider | Lethal | Voltaic Charge |
| Scurlock's Long Nines | Noxious | Shock | Amp Electric | Amp Piercing | Armor-Piercing |
| Basilisk III | Rapid Reload | Any | Any | Lethal | Any | Deadly Strike | Any | Mega Corpse Bomb |
| Zamzama III | Rapid Reload | Any | Any | Lethal | Any | Deadly Strike | Any | Mega Corpse Bomb |

| Tearing Long Gun | Rapid Reload | Any | Any | Tearing | Any | Tearing | Any | Mega Corpse Bomb |
Hull Armor and Mods (02:31)
- Avoid armor with 0% base resistances. It leaves you open to mixed status damage, and solid all-around resistance matters in high-tier fights.
- I usually run Immortal Vessel or Royal Custodian.
- Swap for specific threats: Mantle of the Deep against the Kraken, Heyden's Guard against the Abyss Herald.
- Ascension mods: stack passive armor or bonus health for maximum sustain in solo boss fights.
Defensive armors compared
| Defensive armor | Effect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Immortal Vessel | YOLO x 2 | 2 lives |
| Floodbound | 20% enemy damage heals you | Needs a flooding main weapon |
| Royal Custodian | 35% armor | After repair kit use |
| Harrowguard | 50% off Punctured | Terrible base resistance |
| Wyrmhide | 20% off damage | On slow or anchored |
| Mantle of the Deep | Less damage from the Kraken and similar bosses | + Damage after bracing |
| Heyden's Guard | Fire retardant | Best against the Abyss Herald |
| Silver Sentinel | Good against shell-shocked | Needs to brace |
| Titan's Cuirass | Good against shell-shocked | Terrible base resistance |
Offensive armors (more DPS, less tank)
If you want to trade survivability for damage, these are the picks. Nocturne Heart in particular needs high lifesteal to hold its bonus.
| Offensive armor | Effect | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Nocturne Heart | +15% DPS above 75% health | Needs high lifesteals |
| Crimson Lotus | +33% DPS | After crew attack |
| Buccaneer's Oath | +25% DPS/armor | After target defeat |
Armor ascension mods
Stack passive armor or bonus health first. The full mod options by slot:
| Basic mod (green) | Advanced mod (blue) | Special mod (purple) | Mythic mod (orange) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Armored | Resist All | Stout | Ironclad | Stalwart | Steel Integration | Jester | Iron Curtain | Adept Spiking Integration |
Furniture Loadout (03:04)
The new Doom furniture loadout maximizes world boss DPS on the junk or corvette. Rampant Carriage Hold is a major furniture piece that boosts the damage and survivability of nearby party members, so it is great for power leveling friends. Solo players should stick with the classic Doom Build setup.
Solo vs. party furniture
The core set is the same for both. The difference is the major furniture: Rampant Carriage Hold gives a damage and defensive buff to your party, while the Megaphone gives solo players rapid-fire reloads.
| Solo or party | Solo only |
|---|---|
| Rampant Carriage Hold (major) | Megaphone (major) |
| Plague Bringer's Ward | Plague Bringer's Ward |
| Ramrod Workshop | Ramrod Workshop |
| Charge Stores | Charge Stores |
| Leyden Vault Array | Leyden Vault Array |
| Culverin Works | Culverin Works |
Furniture by damage type
If you change your main elemental damage, swap the fifth slot to match. The first four stay the same:
| Lightning | Flooding | Fire | Explosive | Piercing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rampant Carriage Hold | Rampant Carriage Hold | Rampant Carriage Hold | Rampant Carriage Hold |
| Starboard Powder Kegs I* | Starboard Powder Kegs I* | Starboard Powder Kegs I* | Starboard Powder Kegs I* |
| Ramrod Workshop | Ramrod Workshop | Ramrod Workshop | Ramrod Workshop |
| Charge Stores | Charge Stores | Charge Stores | Charge Stores |
| Leyden Vault Array | Caustic Spall Station | Devil's Concoction | High-Velocity Kegs |
| Culverin Works | Culverin Works | Culverin Works | Culverin Works |
* Starboard Powder Kegs I is a budget pick. Swap it for better furniture when you have it.
Seasonal Journey Mastery Loadouts (03:31)
The seasonal journey center node combination in this video is the strongest setup I have tested. The template is a culverin-focused build with toxic and lightning main weapons. Put leftover points into armor and health for survivability, or push secondary damage for maximum glass-cannon output. Watch the chapters for each full node layout:
- 03:36 Toxic/Lightning (the template)
- 03:44 Lightning only, such as with Heaven's Mandate (respec into dedicated lightning nodes)
- 03:56 Flooding, with Carronades
- 04:02 Fire/Explosive, with Scorch Song
If you switch to another elemental damage type, use the furniture by damage type table above for matching options.
Tips and Tricks (04:22)
- Mix weapon types across your slots. I use a culverin on broadside, a demi-cannon on the bow, a bombard on port, a long gun on the stern and a mortar in the auxiliary.
- Need faster reloads? Grab this season's food for an extra reload boost.
- The impetus combo: once you reach 10 impetus stacks, fire your auxiliary weapon (your mortar or Little Grace 3). For the next 8 seconds, all your hits become a critical barrage that can melt World Tier 4 bosses. Rinse and repeat on the Elder Shadowbeast.
