Kataka Elk Locations
I can't find it! Where is the legendary animal?
There are many reasons and factors why a legendary animal in free roam is not showing up.
- Location - you need to know the random location, every legendary animal on free roam have 3-8 spawning points sometimes they have two different areas like the legendary elks
- Weather - before the game was patched, weather conditions are a major factor, some legendary animals will appear on clear weather, some exclusively appears on foggy or heavy rain
- Time - like the agarita or blood flowers, legendary animals appears on either day, night or dawn or after sunset
- The first three factors above, are the major factors to be considered when hunting the legendary animals on free-roam
- Same species cooldown - although Rockstar has not confirmed this yet, but there are many players experiencing a 72 hour cooldown upon hunting legendary animals. This means when you killed a legendary elk, when you leave that instance/lobby you have to wait for 3 days until another legendary elk spawns again for you.
- The legendary animal in your instance/lobby was already killed by another player, you simply have to re-join another lobby to find it. Or was chased by another player or aggroed by a passing NPC and wondered somewhere else
- Technical reasons such as server reset, bugs or griefers trying to hack animals, if it's the latter then resolved it by just joining another lobby or relogging back in the game
