Know This Before Playing "Fields of Elysium" of Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Odyssey's Fields of Elysium is one of the best DLC of Assassin's Creed but also has the worst cliffhanger. The new area is more scenic than ancient Greece and things you loot glows. There are a lot of new experiences, new armors and weapons, new enemies and cast of characters while some are very familiar in this first episode of The Fate of Atlantis DLC.

Fields of Elysium Requirements

Fields of Elysium starts with the free side quest "Heir of Memories" from Lost Tales of Greece content where the game lets you swap between Layla and protagonist misthios Kassandra/Alexios to help the Isu Aletheia. You can also dive in directly in the DLC but your progress will not be saved.

Fields of Elysium follows that and you enter the new area Elysium. Ancient Greeks calls it the place in Underworld for mortals related to the gods, war heroes, chosen by gods, the heroics and the righteous. For the full story here's a movie version (all cutscenes) playthrough where you meet Persephone, Hermes, Adonis, Hekate, Leonidas and a certainly cute dog Ros.

In Fields of Elysium, you can upgrade your legendary staff, "Staff of Hermes Trismegistus" to get an enhanced version of four of your abilities. Ares Bull Charge is the enhanced Bull Charge, Ares Madness replaces Battlecry of Ares, Kronos Time Warp is the better version of Slow Time and Might of Artemis modifies Hunter's Rain of Destruction. Fields of Elysium Complete Armors and Weapons Sets

New Armors Weapons

First Civilization legendary armor set and legendary sword Caduceus Blade can be acquired from the story missions of Fields of Elysium. Isu Warden, Myrmidon and Vanguard armor and weapons sets comes in silver, bronze and gold variations, can be acquired from looting objects, killing enemies or buying from blacksmith in Fields of Elysium area. Same goes with Precursor or forged Isu weapons.

Progression blocked after Heir of Memories? Or cannot access the DLC? It is not a bug or glitch, here's why.

Two REQUIREMENTS for The Fate of Atlantis DLC

1. You need to complete Heir of Memories episode from Lost Tales of Greece
Heir of Memories is a free content and easily accessible to old and new players. If you just bought the game and you haven't completed the main story, you will be temporarily blocked by a save game feature upon doing the Fields of Elysium, here's why you cannot progress in the said DLC.

2. Complete the quest "A Family's Legacy"
The entire Fate of Atlantis is the aftermath of an event in the game, where upon completion you get the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus, legendary weapon of your father. "A Family's Legacy" is one of the three story arcs in the main game.

Before playing Fields of Elysium know the backstory of Atlantis, this os where the DLC connects to the main game through your relationship with its keeper, the father of Kassandra or Alexios.

"A Family's Legacy" is no simple side quest, it is more of a quest chains of subquests. The Atlantis story involves a game wide slaying of all the four core mythical creatures Sphinx, Minotaur, Cyclops and Medusa. Once that's done, you have to go back to Atlantis one last time and finish the Atlantis story giving way to the The Fate of Atlantis DLC.

Completing the Atlantis ending rewards you the Staff of Hermes Trismegistus making you the new "keeper" of Atlantis and the staff.

The Fate of The Atlantis theme is very similar to Curse of the Pharaohs from Assassin's Creed Origins especially with the general idea of death and afterlife.

Just like the "Curse DLC" in Origins the game introduces new area and the story revolves around conflict between the living and the dead. Both involves a matriarch working behind the scenes. Both introduces new supernatural beings or mechanics. Although Origins has more Boss Fights but Elysium might follow the same formula once the two more episodes comes out.
