Who is Who in Starwars:The Force Awakens New poster! + New trailer!

Starwars just released its official theatrical poster! It is painted in the same palette as the previous saga, it is nostalgic and vivid, showing the cast of the most anticipated film this December.

The poster is centered on Rey (Daisy Ridley) with her dual-blade sword and Finn (John Boyega) carrying a blue lightsaber . Below them are Chewbacca with his signature Wookie crossbow (Peter Mayhew), Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), X-wing pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and her First Legion troopers.

The lovable droids in the center left are C-3PO, R2D2, scene-stealer rolling droid BB8 and the pirate Maz Kanata. The ships in blue scene has the Millennium Falcon being chased by Tie Fighters backed by two Star Destroyers while the explosion on the left are likely caused by the two X-wing fighters. The biggest ship seen on the upper right may not be a ship, but a likely replica of the Death Star from previous films.

The menacing figure on the backdrop is Kylo Ren, member of the Knights of Ren, commanding the First Order legion troopers. The dark warrior is shown in black hood, a crimson breather and intricately designed metallic mask. Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) is clasping his radically designed red lightsaber with projecting crossguards.

Empowering Women

In the past, Starwars stories has a male focal point usually a Jedi fueled versus another male antagonist from the Sith. Thanks to Disney, Starwars is now being led by a strong presence of women.

Most of the teaser trailers released indicate that since Disney bought the Starwars property from George Lucas, starting from Episode VII the franchise will be lead by a female protagonist Rey just like the upcoming stand alone Starwars movie, Rogue One. Addition of Captain Phasma also adds a certain cohesion of strong female presence in the mix.
