Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege: Closed Beta Impressions Part 2

<< Continued from Part 1 (Introduction & Operators, Fuze)

Thermite  (FBI/SWAT Attacker)

Thermite has a medium armor that moves efficiently capable of bringing Thermite Breaching Charges in the battle hence the name. The thermite charges are capable of destroying reinforced walls. It is quite a light show and that breach ends up fried and burnt. He can carry a M1014 or SIG 556 as his primary weapon. Below is Thermite gameplay as Lone Wolf playing the Terrorist Hunt Classic mode.

Sledge  (SAS Attacker)

Sledge is one of the bad ass looking attacker and this breaching hammer only upped that ante. As a unique ability,he is capable of destroying destructible barriers in one swing creating fast breaches for the team. He has medium armor and have 591A1 and L85A2 as his primary weapons. One of the disadvantage of using him is the noise attracting a lot of attention even on terrorist bots. Here is a video gameplay of Sledge as Lone Wolf on Terrorist Hunt Classic mode.

Overall Experience

While the game is nearing its final stage, the game looks fantastic with new gameplays such as rappelling, vaulting, inverted shooting and of course breaching barriers. There is also a cacophony of devices that can be used depending on the Operator you are using. The AI of terrorist bots in the Lone Wolf mode is also great, and the difficulty gives replayability and unpredictable behaviors when going solo.

One of the complaints I shared with the fellow players was the long wait to be connected in multiplayer matches, it is painful to watch the list of players getting filled up and emptied by impatient players on the queue. And sometimes if you have a particularly experiencing lag and high ping expect that you will be automatically booted out of the game just like what happened on video above.

The game has a potential in bringing a different close combat shooter experience among the crowding FPS games. While waiting until its release, for now, we can play the free to play another Tom Clancy game, the Ghost Recon Phantoms.
