Welcome Guardian to another mask-driven horror-filled Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2. Wear your masks in all activities from now until the first week of November to gain the rewards and currencies needed to get the new items from Eva Levante and progress to completion of the quest. Festival of the Lost is a limited-time live event in Destiny 2 where Guardians laugh in the face of death and wear masks as they fight back against the encroaching darkness. Festival of the Lost begins on October 6, 2020 and ends at the weekly reset on November 3, 2020.

Beginner Guide for Festival of the Lost

What you need:
1. "Escape the Cosmodrome" mission completed to unlock the Tower
2. At least 770 Power
3. Speak to Eva Levante in the Tower Courtyard to receive a quest and a mask. From this point forward, always wear the mask to gain additional rewards while doing any activity in the game. Complete the mission, to be granted access to explore the Haunted Forest earn Festival of the Lost rewards

The Haunted Forest

Where is the Haunted Forest? After completing the requirements above, the new instance will pop up in your map while in the Tower close to the main portal. Haunted Forest is a night instance of the Infinite Forest on Mercury. It can be explored in two different versions.

Haunted Forest Standard Version (Recommended Power 750)

This standard version of the Haunted Forest features matchmaking, and will pair players until a Fireteam of three has been assembled. PlayStation Plus/Xbox Live Gold is required in order for console players to access this version of the Haunted Forest.

Haunted Forest Firewalled Version (Recommended Power 750)

In this version of the Haunted Forest, matchmaking is disabled. Players may enter the Haunted Forest solo, or with a pre-made Fireteam, but no additional team members will be matchmade into this activity.

You will be given 15 minutes to clear branches, defeat enemies and collect Candy and Chocolate Strange Coins, you can also remain idle if you want until that time expired to open the chest in the end. Beware! The path disappears in the middle for the first and 2nd segments, while the left during the last segment. If you fall, there is a boss below waiting for you and to defeat it is monumental task.

Cipher Decoders for Opening Caches

At end of Haunted Forest instance, the center chest is automatically opened when approached, there are 5 additional chests to open using Cipher Decoders. Cipher Decoders are random drops from any activity except Haunted Forests, but the drop rate is quite low.

Opening a chest gives you a chance to win the "Horror Story" and "Braytech Werewolf" weapons, masks, chocolate strange coins glimmer, bright dust and more when completing the event bounties from Eva Levante.

How to Get Cipher Decoders?

#CipherDecoder is rewarded when starting the quest from Eva Levante. Each run of Haunted Forest opens one chest that is equivalent to a Cipher Decoder. Since it is a guaranteed drop for every character, use your other characters to get one or create another character to get a Cipher Decoder each time you start the initial quest from Eva Levante. Or you can just do any a crucible, public quest, strikes, gambit or any activity in the game, although it is not 100% guaranteed drop. You have until November to do all of these anyway.

Where to Farm Cipher Decoders, Candies and Chocolate Strange Coins

Where to find easily Cipher Decoder, Candy, Chocolate Strange Coin and Engrams needed for Festival of the Lost? The best place on Earth EDZ has a lot of people anyday, therefore events are very active and doing all sort of activities there is easy enough from public quest, missions, lost sectors. Although strikes takes a while it has better rewards than adventures. If you are sick of repeating Haunted Forest and waiting for the time to loot the chests, EDZ is the best place so far to earn the currencies of Festival of the Lost.

You can unlock new masks such as Masquerader's Helmet, Fractured Traveler Mask, Variks Mask, Exo Stranger Mask, Ana Bray Mask, Wrapped Traveler Mask and Bubbling Mask.
