For Honor Honest Impressions
"For Honor" is a beautiful game offering a new unique experience despite its misgivings. I had the opportunity to play the closed beta and open beta few weeks before it launched. At first glance "For Honor" is beautifully done and reminiscent of of Ubisoft's many iconic games, the Assassin's Creed reminds us of the Knights faction, Vikings savagery from Far Cry Primal and a touch of Asian mysticism with the inclusion of the Samurai clan.

Three pivotal factions waging war on each other on the premise of a melee battlefield powered by a unique directional combat system. Don't be deceived though, mastering each class comes with difficulty for each chosen hero, making the game a button-mashy type but dedicated players can master it with practice and duels.

Just like the early weeks of Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege it has many issues, mainly disconnection, multiplayer matches crash and lack of dedicated servers. This instability caused a catastrophic backlash to the game's reputation. The game turned "Mostly Negative" on recent Steam reviews despite having a good early impressions from various gaming authorities and was a targeted for boycott by its player base.

It has the action element we love from role playing action games without the tedious inventory and sorting. Combined with the rewards, upgrading system and fast paced multiplayer matches from first person shooters and hack & slash. Evolving these heavy melee characters into a powerhouse comes at a price, grind and a deep pocket.

The game did not introduced any collector's edition but it has a season pass but Ubisoft micro transactions is notorious for handing out paying players unfair advantage against others making them superior on battles. Lack of dedicated servers also made the game rely on the chosen player's connection, geography and made the game vulnerable for user hacking.

Ubisoft is known for many known IP like Assassins Creed, Tom Clancy games, Prince of Persia, Far Cry, Watchdogs and many others. For Honor besides Steep is one of the new IP released this year and its looking a bad start. The developers released patches and talks about fixing the problems raised by the players. We an expect it to be a better game in the coming weeks as they release new contents hopefully its not yet too late, versus the continuous decline of users playing the game.
