Prologue of Alien Covenant is a teaser for Prometheus sequel
The Alien Covenant prologue shows the events after Prometheus, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw repairing the android David and the alien ship traveling to its homeworld. It's just too bad the movie won't be about that, instead it will have the same plot from the Alien series. By now this formula has been used since the Sigourney Weaver original.
Alien: Covenant | Prologue: The Crossing
Prometheus was a beautiful movie and the surprise at the end made it better. Everyone expected that there will be a Prometheus 2 but instead, Alien Covenant seems to be about an alien terrorizing a crew just like the previous alien movies.
I just wish they could have continued the premise of Prometheus just like this prologue. If this will be a continuation of Prometheus Elizabeth Shaw will be sleeping in the chamber and David could have gone back and somewhat met this crew in Alien Covenant.
This prologue is a tease of what could have been a Prometheus sequel. A movie everyone is eagerly waiting and Alien Covenant is just a filler to that expectation.
We are not interested in watching Alien Covenant we want Prometheus 2. The Covenant starring credits do not show Noomi Rapace and we expect only a cameo or a reference seen in this prologue.
The docking scene just looks ominous, it fills your imagination with what could have been. The city breathing to an atmosphere full of H. R. Giger' biomechanical creations.
The design, the ship, the city is truly, alien. Just what kind of creatures design this place, just look at these jagged interlocking doors. Too bad it's not the full movie.
I have a theory though, that they are making a proper Prometheus sequel starring Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and David, Alien Covenant is just a marketing tool to add hype to the movie while it is being made. It is the formula we have seen in Disney's Starwars, they used Rogue One to ride out the hype of Episode VII while waiting for Episode VIII to be ready. A possibility? I guarantee it, we are all in for a surprise. But how long do we have to wait?
