The First Kali Fighter on Tekken 7

Is it possible that this leaked image of Tekken 7's new female fighter from fighters generation is a FMA practitioner?

Let us take a look at the character design. The girl has the brown complexion with hazel eyes and black hair which is typical among Asians. The color schemes of the dress are inspired by the colors red, blue, yellow and white.

It incorporates the flag of Philippines’s “sun rays” design on the necklace, earrings, belt, wood-strap sandals and teases as bunny ears hair accessory. The top silk dress is also heavily inspired by its national costume, according to Wikipedia is country's national dress for women with floral embroideries. The white flower on the left side of the belt appears like of Jasmine.

Enough about the character design, now let us guess the possible fighting style. If Tekken 7 made great lengths integrating all things about this nationality, they should also know about the Filipino Martial Arts. FMA is the modern incarnation of a collective lethal fighting disciplines based on ancient blades, grappling, empty hands, rattan rods, poles, animal stances and "adaptive kickboxing" known as “yaw-yan” or dance of death. They are taught apparently in US Army, Philippine Military and Russian Spetsnaz.

You’ve already seen FMA in Hollywood blockbusters such as the Bourne series, Blade saga, Quantum of Solace, Taken series and the infamous Bruce Lee’s Game of Death. Bruce Lee introduced the martial art on mainstream Hollywood and featured his then-student Dan Inosanto who later pioneered the FMA’s Kali system and have worked as a fight choreographer in several Hollywood films.

Denzel Washington was trained in Kali for his machete scene featured in the “Book of Eli” and used eskrima when he eliminated the gang of Russian thugs in “The Equalizer”. Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy also featured hybrid FMA on Batman’s arsenal, while Robin who later became Nightwing uses Kali sticks as his primary weapons based on the discipline of Arnis/Eskrima of FMA.

Now for this new Tekken 7 character to have FMA background would be exciting to see. FMA maybe suitable for Mortal Kombat due to its brutality, but it would be nice to have a new set of moves in the Tekken series not replicas of previous Tekken characters. While Talim from Soul Calibur II, III and IV is also an FMA practitioner who uses twin elbow blades like BloodRayne, this Tekken 7 female fighter doesn’t seem to have any weapons in the leaked image.
